Michelle Barclay

1. Tell us about your current position and what you do.
I am an associate copywriter for Digitas Health, a pharmaceutical advertising agency. I write advertisements (websites, Facebook ads, brochures, etc.) for an oncology brand.

2. What are some past positions you have held?
I am at my first full time position.

3. Were there any particular TCNJ courses/internships/experiences that helped jump start your career?
I had 2 internships in advertising that really got me interested in copywriting and working at an ad agency. As far as TCNJ classes, I would say ‘Careers for English majors’ was a great one as far as figuring out what I wanted to do.

4. What are your favorite memories of your time at TCNJ?
Being a part of Ambassadors and Greek life at TCNJ gave me a huge sense of community. Most of my favorite memories are weekends spent at philanthropy/staff events for those organizations.

5. Do you have any advice for current TCNJ students trying to break into your field?
Get involved, apply to as many internships as you can, and always take opportunities to work on your creative writing and public speaking skills!
